Designing Quantitative Social Research and Its Application

This class aims to help participants who major in the sociology of education or relevant fields in social sciences become able to write a quantitative research paper. For a year, each participant is supposed to present their research projects, and all participants discuss each presentation. We accept various outputs for each goal, such as conference presentations, discussion papers, chapters in a thesis, and refereed journal articles. The class evaluation is based on the quality of the presentation in our workshop and one's contribution, such as comments on other participants' presentations.

There have been various issues in social sciences. Recently, many scholars have been interested in the mixed-mode research method, which approaches their research questions by combining several types of methodologies. In this class, anyone who tries quantitative analyses in some way for one's research project is welcomed, as well as those who specialise in quantitative methods.
