関係論的社会学

この授業では、社会学における関係論的アプローチ（関係論的社会学）の枠組み、視座について理解を深めることを目的とする。
社会学を含め、社会科学においては個人主義とホーリズムという二つの立場のあいだで、個人の行為や社会全体の状況の説明をめぐって大きな差異が存在してきた。他方、近年みられつつある相互の歩み寄りに対して、一定の概念的、理論的貢献をなしているのが関係論の立場である。この枠組みは、特定の対象、仮説に焦点化するものではなく、分析単位に社会関係を据える幅広い研究を包摂するものであり、量的、質的双方の実証分析における応用が進んでいる。この授業では、実証分析への応用よりも、関係論の考え方の理解を深めることに注力する。
この授業は大きく3つのパートから成り立っている。第1に、関係論的社会学が何かについて、個人主義とホーリズムとの比較を通じて議論する。第2に、関係論と理論的なつながりの強い社会学的制度論、フィールド論の枠組みをふまえつつ、関係論的社会学における社会関係の動態に関する考え方を議論する。第3に、より具体的なトピックについて、関係論がどのような説明図式を提供できるのかについて議論する。以上について、参加者は各回に割り当てられた文献を講読し、相互の議論を通じて社会学における関係論の意義（あるいは限界）について考えてゆく。
This class aims to achieve a deeper understanding of the framework and perspective of relational sociology.
Including sociology, there has been a considerable difference between individualism and holism in explaining individuals' actions and the broader societal context. In the meantime, the relational approach has made conceptual and theoretical contributions toward the two different camps closing in on each other in recent years. This framework does not focus on specific targets and hypotheses. Instead, it includes a variety of studies that focus on social relations as the unit of analysis, and its application in both quantitative and qualitative empirical analyses is advancing. In this class, we will make a greater effort to understand the ways of thinking of the relational perspective than to apply it in empirical analyses.
This class consists of the following three parts. In the first part, we discuss what relational sociology is through comparing individualism and holism. Secondly, we discuss how to think about the dynamics of social relations in relational sociology, referring to sociological institutionalism and field theory, which are theoretically relevant to the relational approach. Thirdly, we discuss what kind of explanatory frameworks the relational approach can provide for more specific research topics. For those parts, participants are supposed to read the relevant literature assigned to each session and discuss the relevance (or limitations) of the relational perspective in mutual discussions.

授業の方法
参加者は各回に割り当てられた文献を講読する。また、各回の文献は参加者が紹介し、その内容にもとづき議論をおこなう。プレゼンテーションは英語でも構わないが、議論は日本語でおこなう。上記の文献リストは予定であり、変更の可能性がある。
Participants in this class read the assigned literature for each session. Each participant will introduce the assigned literature for each session, and we will discuss it afterwards. Presentations are available in English, but discussions will be facilitated in Japanese. The abovementioned list of literature is tentative, and the actual readings may change.
成績評価方法
議論への貢献、文献のプレゼンテーション内容により評価する。
Grading depends on each participant's contribution to the discussion and on the presentation of the assigned literature.
履修上の注意
文献を事前に読み、内容に関連する社会科学的な問い、批判や意見を持つようにすること。
Participants are expected to read the assigned literature and attend each session with social scientific questions, criticisms, and opinions relevant to each piece.
