アカデミック・ライティング 1(上級)

アカデミック・ライティング(上級)1
This course is an advanced academic writing course for graduate students. We will start with an overview of the considerations involved in successful academic writing (e.g., organization, audience), followed by an examination of different patterns in expository prose. We will then consider the interpretation and discussion of data, as well as the writing of summaries and critiques. Lastly, we will work on constructing a research paper and preparing effective academic presentations. Throughout the course, we will discuss issues which often present challenges in academic writing, such as style (e.g., avoidance of colloquialisms, use of formal language) and learn useful strategies involving grammar and sentence structure.
The ultimate goal of this course is to lay the foundation for writing course papers, M.A theses, Ph.D. dissertations, as well as manuscripts for submission to academic journals, and presentations for academic conferences.
