Introduction to Literary Theory （１）
Introduction to Literary Theory
What is literature? A means of pleasure? An instrument of understanding? A space for experimental thinking? If it is about pleasure, for example, how exactly does it reach this pleasure? By equilibrating the faculties of our mind? By balancing reason and emotion? Or else?
This seminar, taught in English, explores questions and approaches of literary theory from anthropology and psychoanalysis to New Criticism, New Historicism, and Ecocriticism. Furthermore, it follows the implications of paradigms such as Frankfurt School critical thinking, gender theory, and material culture for our understanding of literature.
