総合日本語 I (2)(L2) / Integrated Japanese I (2)(L2)
This course is designed for students who have already acquired very basic communication skills. The course will cover the second half of the elementary course content, which is at the level equivalent to N4 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). The aim of this course is to help students acquire further basic knowledge of Japanese through aural-oral practice necessary for day-to-day communication tasks.
Specifically, by the end of the course, students are expected to be able to:
1) communicate in their daily life using basic vocabulary and sentence patterns,
2) understand simple texts and information of the university and community,
3) express their own ideas and opinions effectively using simple expressions,
4) read short texts which consist of high-frequency words and basic sentence patterns, and
5) write short passages on familiar topics.

授業計画
Grammatical items and useful expressions of textbook ‘GENKI vol.2 [Third Edition]’ will be fully covered. Details will be provided on the first day of the class.
*15 minutes after class will be set aside for questions.
授業の方法
Students are required to prepare for the class by understanding grammar notes and learning vocabulary introduced in each lesson. In class, students will practice short dialogues or speeches using newly introduced grammatical items, followed by more comprehensive oral/aural exercises.
成績評価方法
The performance on following items will be considered for the course grade:
(a) Participation in class activities
(b) Assignments
(c) Dialogue Checks
(d) Quizzes
(e) Exams
(f) Presentations

履修上の注意
- USTEP/KOMSTEP L2 students only.
- It is NOT allowed to take this course and Applied Japanese (4): Comprehensive Elementary Japanese 1 (L2) simultaneously.
- The maximum number of students in each class is limited in principle to fifteen. If there are more than fifteen students, those who attend the first class will be prioritized for registration.
