グローバル教養特別演習IV(12)

Art and Feminisms in Japan since the 1960s
Course objective: Does feminism exist in Japan? With the international gender equality survey putting Japan at 121 in the world, you may think it has always been like that here. But NO, there has been a variety of feminisms in Japan. This course will survey the history of feminisms, with a particular focus on the Women’s Liberation (Uman libu) movement, which came out of the 1968 student movement and the counter-culture movement. We will also examine some important feminist art practices, theories and exhibitions since the 1960s. Through understanding the past experiments and experiences, we will try to locate problems and to find ways for changes in the future.

履修上の注意
A dance workshop requires light physical exercise. Museum visits may require entrance fees (I try to get free tickets, but nowadays museums are getting stingy,,,)
