Environmental Science Laboratory Course
Physical Chemistry
This course will allow students to perform laboratory measurements and data analysis in physical chemistry. Experiments will focus on the topics of spectroscopy, reaction kinetics and photochemistry. In addition, students will learn and practice key laboratory skills, operation of analytical instruments, scientific notebook keeping and data processing.

There will be four different experiments undertaken during this course:
Experiment 1 - Absorption Spectrophotometry
Experiment 2 - Determining the Activation Energy of a Chemiluminescent Reaction
Experiment 3 - Enzyme kinetics
Experiment 4 - Fluorescence
授業の方法
Lecture and practical laboratory experience.
成績評価方法
Students will perform experiments in groups/pairs. Each student must keep individual notebooks and write up each experiment including data analysis and answers to supplied questions. For each experiment (4 in total) students must complete a prelab exercise before they are able to undertake any experimental work.
履修上の注意
This course will be held in a lab room (EDL) on the 3rd floor of KOMCEE East.

This course is offered every other year (every even year). Due to the capacity of the lab, we need to restrict the number of enrollees to 20. Students who are willing to take this course must submit a google form (in "Course-related websites" section) in advance. The form will be linked here and available from the beginning of October 2026.
