環境科学実験Ib
Experiments in Environmental Sciences I-(b)
The course will be provided for students to gain fundamental knowledge on natural science practicals, specifically focusing on the field of Chemistry. Having practical skills is essential to understand the contents covered in environmental science studies. By taking this course, students will be able to understand the basic concepts and experimental methods to explain the scientific phenomena, and experience the actual laboratory techniques used in natural science research.
Aspects from organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry will be explored in three different experiments: quantitative analysis, nitration reaction, and atomic spectra experiments. Lectures will be provided for each experiment, prior to the actual laboratory experiment. Students will not only be able to experience the experimental techniques related to synthesis, purification, characterization, and analysis that are actually used in research in chemistry field, but also be able to link the materials learnt from lectures to the practical laboratory work. This course will also train students’ skills for scientific way of thinking.
