国際森林資源学特論(Advanced Global Forest Resources)
<Day 1>:
The rapid advancement of remote sensing technology such as passive and active remote sensing offers potential for revealing the spatial distribution objects on the Earth’s surface and forest management. This is achieved through the transmission, transformation, and processing of electromagnetic radiation information. In the intensive lecture on Day 1, students will learn the theory of GNSS (GPS) positioning and multi-modal remote sensing technology through a combination of on-site lectures and forest inventory attributes measuring field practice.

<Day 2>:
Remote sensing technology plays an important role in forestry studies and forest management practices. In the intensive lecture on Day 2, students will receive instruction on a specific type of remote sensing data operation and processing (e.g., backpack LiDAR equipment). The session will cover field data collection, data processing, and the extraction of forest attributes. Additionally, there will be a comparison of measurement accuracy with the field data collected on Day 1.

授業の方法
<Day 1> On-site lecture (1) Lecture on the theory of Multi-Modal Remote Sensing Datasets from passive to active technology. Working principles of LiDAR/ LiDAR Field Workflow and Systematic Error Sources/ LiDAR Data Formats and processing Software. (2) Field practice of basic forest inventory attributes (tree location/ DBH/ tree height) measurement in UTokyo Yayoi. <Day 2> On-site lecture (1) Field collection of backpack LiDAR data at UTokyo Yayoi. (2) Data preprocessing, including resolving, registration, denoising, feature extraction, and classification, followed by a comparison of the extracted point cloud-based forest attributes with inventory data.

説明(medium of instrucion):E、資料(course materials):E ★This course is held as "simultaneous course" of「国際森林資源学特論」"Advanced Global Forest Resources"(3910193),「国際森林開発論」"International Forest Development"(3910335) for IPADS, and「持続可能な社会-生態系a」"Sustainable Agro-Ecological Systems (a)"(08D1444A). You can register and take only either of the three courses. 「国際森林開発論」 "International Forest Development" (3910335) is held for IPADS students. For the students at other graduate school courses, please take「国際森林資源学特論」 "Advanced Global Forest Resources" (3910193). For undergraduate school students at PEAK, please take「持続可能な社会-生態系a」"Sustainable Agro-Ecological Systems (a)"(08D1444A). * Who cannot attend 2 days intensive lecture is not able to take this course. * Please bring your MS-Excel installed PC for the practice. Details will be announced via UTOL.
