東アジアの社会II

Introduction to Japanese queer studies
This course explores Japanese queer studies which have been inspired by Anglophone queer studies but developed uniquely in Japanese socio-political contexts. Through reading and discussing queer studies in Japan, this course offers critical approaches to gender and sexuality studies which transnationally expanded and locally developed in Asia. This course’s goals are:

1.To understand history and social contexts of queer studies in Japan
2.To understand queer perspectives in a particular context
3.To gain a critical skill to analyse Japanese society in terms of gender and sexuality
