国際日本研究特論XVI

Environmental Law and Governance
This course examines the issues, actors, and processes that shape environmental governance at the transnational and global levels. It presents recent and ongoing research, with a focus on Earth system governance (key theoretical debates, conceptual innovations, and empirical findings). Through classroom discussions based on assigned readings and the development of a collaborative mini-project, students explore in greater depth various regulatory frameworks, decision-making processes, institutional arrangements, and mechanisms at the intersection of science, politics, and law. In doing so, they critically examine the relevance and legitimacy of these emerging forms of governance in the era of planetary transformation and upheaval of the Anthropocene.
