特殊講義IV[アジア・日本研究コース]
This course is on 'Refugee and Forced Migration Studies'.
This course will be conducted entirely in English.
The instructor is Associate Professor at Hitotsubashi University and specialises in refugee/forced migration issues and asylum / migration policy. Her disciplinary background is in Law, International Relations, and Politics.
Prior to joining academia, the instructor worked as a national and international civil servant for the
Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japanese Immigration Bureau (as an external expert), the United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and International Organization for Migration (IOM),
among other institutes in various countries for about 15 years.
This course is to introduce students to overview, theories, disciplines, and contemporary debates concerning refugee and forced migration studies. It aims at helping students to familiarise themselves with different approaches to study refugee and forced migration phenomena in the world and to be able to conduct critical analysis of some of the key aspects of current forced migration issues.
The course goals are:
- To be introduced to basic theories, disciplines, and contemporary debates concerning refugee and forced migration studies;
- To become familiar with the different approaches to study refugee and forced migration phenomena in the world;
- To be able to conduct cricial analysis of some of the key aspects of current forced migration issues.
