音声分析
Phonetic Analysis
本授業では、言語音を記述・分析するための音声トレーニングと音響音声学の手法を学ぶ。具体的には以下のことを学ぶ。
- IPA（国際音声字母）の定める言語音を発音し、聞き取る練習をする
- 言語音の母音、子音、超文節音、声質の音響的な特徴を知る
- 音響分析ソフトを用いて音響分析を行う
We will learn the basic techniques for analyzing speech sounds with respect to their phonetic properties, particularly in terms of articulatory and acoustic phonetics. This involves the following.
- Getting familiarized with the IPA symbols and their phonetic values
- Being able to use the IPA symbols to transcribe speech sounds
- Getting familiarized with the acoustic properties of vowels, consonants, suprasegmentals and phonation types
- Performing acoustic analysis using software
- Designing an experiment and reporting the results in written (and oral) formats

10. Consonants IV: fricatives, affricates, nasals, liquids, and glides
11. Suprasegmentals I: stress and accent

授業の方法
The lecture provides the basic concepts and methodology of phonetics, phonology and experimental phonology. There will be also hands-on exercises based on the lecture of the day. Students will use their own laptop computer to analyze sounds. Students will work on individual projects on their own by designing an experiment, recording a speaker, analyzing sounds (measurements) before making a conclusion.
The lecture will be conducted mainly in Japanese. 授業では日本語を使用します。

There are no prerequisites for this course. However, basic knowledge of phonetics and phonology is expected.
