Historical Introduction to Analytic Philosophy
Analytic Philosophy is the predominant style of English-language philosophy. This course will introduce this important approach to philosophy through its early history, from the turn of the 20th century until around the 1970's.

授業計画
Topics to be covered include:
- Russell and philosophical analysis
- Logical positivism and the new empirical philosophy
- Approaches to linguistic meaning
- Approaches to the nature of mind
- Approaches to the nature of ethics
Emphasis will be placed on understanding the main arguments rather than detailed exegesis of texts.
授業の方法
Each class will involve lectures and discussion. The class will be conducted in English.
成績評価方法
The final grade will be based on class participation and a take-home exam.
