本講義は、19世紀イギリス帝国史を検証する上で必要な文献購読に主眼を置く演習形式の授業である。

授業の方法
本講義は、演習形式で実施する。毎回、授業の前に課題文献を指定するので、これを読んだ上で授業でその内容について議論する。その上で、授業で扱ったテーマについて自ら調査し、期末レポートを提出してもらう。
Students will be requested to read assigned literatures every week, and discuss about their contents at classes. Students must submit a research essay on a theme related to the course contents by the end of the term.
成績評価方法
期末レポートの内容を通じて、授業の内容の理解度を評価する（変更の可能性あり）。
Students will be assessed through the quality of research essay, which they must submit by the end of the term (subject to change).
履修上の注意
通常の授業よりも、文献購読に費やす時間や、期末レポートの調査・執筆に費やす時間は多い。また、日本語だけでなく英語の文献も読むことになるので、留意すること。
Students must spend a lot of time on reading and writing assignments. They must also be able to read literatures in Japanese and English.
