Exploring Tokyo: Visible/Invisible City
The course seeks to bring together students from diverse backgrounds and provide them with opportunities to work together. We aim to delve deeper into Tokyo's culture by participating in a range of media activities, such as advertisement and short video production. The final presentation is planned to be open to the public.

授業計画
*The first class will be held in person (4/6 Tue. 17:05 @ 21KOMCEE West K303) Please bring a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone for answering an online questionnaire in the session. Part I: Warming up (1st~4th week) Introduce yourself in a “meme” way Part II: Tokyo Visual Tour (5th~8th week) Make a short promotional video to market Tokyo's tourist attractions. Part III: Deep Tokyo (9th~12th week) Create a brief video documentary that explores multicultural perspectives and highlights notable phenomena in Tokyo. Final presentation (13th week, open to the public) Every part consists of data collection, group discussion, video making, and presentation. The instructors will give useful tips on how to describe cultural phenomena in a comparative perspective as well as on practical film making in the class.

Interactive lecture (concept introduction) and praxis (group discussion).
成績評価方法
Active participation: 70%; Final Report: 30%

No textbook. Handouts and materials will be provided in class.
参考書
Useful reference books and resources will be introduced in class.
履修上の注意
1.Weekly homework: Students are required to submit a one-page (A4 size) report or a short video clip weekly. 2.The course is currently conducted in-person, but there may be a shift to a hybrid style depending on the status of immigration policies. 3.Students who do not belong to GSA program are welcome as well.
