日本語(36)アカデミック・ライティング(発展)(L6-L7)
Academic Writing in Japanese (Advanced) (L6-L7)
This course is designed for students at the advanced level of Japanese (L6-7) and focuses on developing academic writing skills, with an emphasis on critical thinking, argumentation, and discussion.
Students will gain insight into Japanese society and refine their ability to analyze, discuss, and present their viewpoints in an academic setting. The course is structured around two main activities:
1) Critical Reading & Discussion:
Students will learn how to critically engage with academic texts, summarize key points concisely, and lead discussions on their content. Through student-led presentations and discussions, they will develop the dialogical and analytical skills essential for academic contexts such as college seminars and conference presentations.
2) Argumentative Writing & Research:
Students will learn to construct an argumentative paper, developing a clear research question, critically engaging with previous studies, and analyzing data. They will refine their ability to synthesize ideas, articulate arguments logically, and use academic Japanese effectively. Special attention will be given to citation rules to ensure proper academic integrity.
Throughout the course, students will engage in peer review sessions to strengthen their revision and editing skills. The experience gained from presenting a literature review and participating in academic discussions will be invaluable for writing research papers and graduation theses.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
a) Critically read and analyze academic texts.
b) Lead and contribute to in-depth class discussions.
c) Formulate and refine a strong research question.
d) Develop logical arguments and engage with counterarguments.
e) Deliver academic presentations with confidence.
f) Write a structured mini-research paper using proper academic Japanese.
g) Revise and refine their writing through peer and instructor feedback.
