日本語(35)アカデミック・プレゼンテーション(発展)(L6-L7)
アカデミック・プレゼンテーション(発展)(L6-L7)/ Academic Presentation in Japanese (Advanced) (L6-L7)
This course is designed for students at the advanced level of Japanese (L6-7) and aims at a developing ORAL SKILLS in academic contexts.
The course consists mainly of two types of activities. First, students will prepare handouts and give presentations on readings, primarily books, concerning the Japanese language. Through these activities, students will develop the skills necessary for academic discussions in small-group settings such as seminars and research meetings. These skills include summarizing source materials concisely in a handout, presenting the content orally, facilitating discussions based on the handout, and developing discussions through questions and answers.
Second, each student will select a topic related to the linguistic characteristics of Japanese or the use of language in communication and deepen their interpretation of the topic. This activity includes a PowerPoint presentation and a written report (see the separate handout). In the process of developing their interpretation, students will learn how to narrow down their research interests, collect and organize information, analyze and interpret information, and identify research issues and future directions. Through these activities, students will develop the ability to explain and communicate their own ideas clearly in Japanese.
Experience with this process will also be useful when preparing future academic reports, presentations, graduation theses, and other academic work.
Students will also learn Japanese expressions used in academic contexts, including both spoken and written language.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1) accurately understand and critically read academic discussions concerning the Japanese language.
2) take an active role in facilitating group discussions and contribute constructively to discussions.
3) formulate questions based on topics of interest.
4) position their own research questions in relation to previous research.
5) give appropriate oral presentations and deepen discussions through question-and-answer sessions.
6) incorporate discussions from oral presentations into written reports.
7) develop an attitude of collaborating with others to generate new knowledge and ideas.
