特別講義 Introduction to Japanese Law（外国語科目）
Introduction to Japanese Law
This course will help students understand the fundamentals of law in contemporary Japan.
Students will gain at least a foundational grasp of the origins of Japanese law, and the key concepts that shape it today, both in isolation and in their social context.
Students will learn to consider core areas of Japanese law critically, discuss their perspectives with others, and draw on comparisons with other legal systems as needed.
The course assumes no knowledge of Japanese law or law in general.

授業の方法
The class will be interactive, mixing lecture-style content with class discussion on the reading materials assigned for each week. We will also have some debates and group exercises.
成績評価方法
Class participation 10%
In-class presentation 15%
Short report - due early December 25%
Long research paper - due early January 50%

Reference materials will be provided via ITC-LMS as necessary.
履修上の注意
The course will be conducted entirely in English. A good level of spoken and written English is required to perform well.
