Policy and Governance in Contemporary China
This course would introduce the key political, economic and social issues in contemporary China, and the policy measures taken by the Chinese government. Regarded as the “most serious competitor” to the United States, China’s development direction and challenges would also be discussed. By the end of this course, students would be expected to be able to understand how China has achieved rapid economic growth and social transformation, the fundamental characteristics of policy and governance in China, and their impact on the current issues and future challenges.
