Ethics and International Relations

This course intends to provide an overview of the main ethical questions arising within international politics, both in academic discussions in their historical evolution, and from the perspective of practitioners. It is designed for an audience of postgraduate students. Some background in International Relations theory is welcome, although not required. Ideally, students may take this course following my Introduction to International Politics.
By the end of this course the student should have acquired a substantial knowledge of the main questions of ethics in International Relations, becoming familiar with the concepts and jargons of ethical theory, just war, ethics of war and warfare, responsibility to protect, human rights and global justice, as well as political theology.
