Practice Session for Microeconomics
Microeconomics
The purpose of this course is to develop understandings of microeconomic analysis. We study how economic agents, such as consumers and firms, make choices, how the choice of the economic agents results in market outcomes, and how it affects the welfare of the consumers and the profits of the firms. Given that this course is offered in the graduate school of public policy, we pay more attention to the policy implication of the analysis.
The first half of the course will cover the standard price theory. After covering the partial equilibrium analysis, we dig deeper into consumer behavior and producer behavior, and then equilibrium under monopoly and competitive market. In the second half of the course, we cover strategic interaction (game theory), externalities, public goods, models of imperfect competition, asymmetric information, and other related topics.
