Academic Discourse Writing: The Master's Thesis Genre
This course's main aim is to support students through the writing of their Master's thesis. It will focus on helping students develop their authorial voices through practising to balance academic writing skills such as paraphrasing, learning formulaic language and referencing. Students will also learn to use the Chicago Citation Style consistently and correctly.

"Week 1 - Introductions; ITASIA's Style Guidelines for Thesis Writing; Establishing each student's current situation, checking of formatting and setting weekly writing goals. Week 2 - Abstract and/or Introduction Chapter and working title. Short summary presentations. Week 3 - Documentation System; Chicago Citation Style; peer-editing. Week 4 - Table of Contents; Main Chapters. Short presentations using Table of Contents. Week 5 - Table of Contents; Main Chapters. Short PechaKucha-type presentations. Week 7 - Draft of all parts of thesis;peer-checking of formatting, documentation; explaining what needs to be done. Week 8 - Quotations and Paraphrasing; Explaining 10 of the most important ones. Week 9 - Explaining of progress, revisions. Revisions for next week. Week 10 - Explaining of progress, revisions. Revisions for next week. Week 11 – Explaining of progress, revisions. Revisions for next week. Week 12 – Submission of Master theses. Week 13 – Short Pecha Kucha-type presentations in preparation for defense/final examination;
