Introduction to Japanese Philosophy

This seminar aims to provide a deep understanding of Japanese philosophical history. It focuses on influential figures in Japanese philosophy from ancient time to the present day and discusses their thoughts in conjunction with historical backgrounds. We hope to understand together one philosopher (or one chapter) at one seminar time. For more detail, see the Schedule blow.

授業の方法

Each time, one of the participants presents one topic from the above list. The presentation (30 to 40 minutes) can be carried out by using either a PPT or a paper handout. A question and discussion section will be set following the presentation.

成績評価方法

Seminar participation: preparation, performance, discussion, and attendance. No essay or final presentation will be required.
