Negotiation and Consensus Building for Sustainability
Course Objectives and Outcomes are
• To be able to effectively frame and present scientific knowledge and evidence-based recommendations to a broader audience
• To understand the processes of negotiations and consensus building through theoretical discussion, literature review, and if possible, expert lectures.
• To gain an internal understanding on how negotiations work through experiential learning.

This course is designed for graduate students with an interest in Sustainability Science who intend to develop skills in negotiation and consensus building. The course will provide a brief introduction to framing and representation in the context of negotiating an idea, the basics of negotiations, and understanding how consensus between stakeholders are achieved.
At the end of the course, the student must be able to demonstrate these 2 core competencies:

1. Basics of Negotiations
2. Understanding Consensus Building

授業の方法
Participation in the negotiation game and discussion for debriefing, Group Work, Writing Assignments. This year, the class will be given online. Please refer to the Online Class URL below.
成績評価方法
• Active Participation and discussion in the lectures 35% • Active Participation in the exercise – 35% • Report – 30% Plagiarism. Copying the work of others is unacceptable and will be disciplined according to university policy. Always credit your information sources following professional standards. Respect. Please act professionally during classroom conversations and activities, and respectfully allow your classmates to express a diversity of views and perspectives. This exercise course is a peer learning course based on discussion.
