磁性
Magnetism
Magnets have thought to be known since approximately 5,000 years ago, but their microscopic understanding was established only after the developments of quantum and statistical mechanics. In this lecture, we discuss basic aspects of magnetism for students who learned basics of quantum and statistical mechanics. After explaining the electronic states on magnetic ions in solids, exchange interactions, phase transitions and magnetic ordered states, we introduce microscopic experimental methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance, quantum spin systems and itinerant electron magnets.
M. Takigawa introduces magnetism of the localized spin system and nuclear magnetic resonance in the first half, whereas Y. Uwatoko explains that of the itinerant electron system in the second half.
