Theory of International Interdependence III
Learning International Conflicts and Creating Research Proposal
国際関係の理論を学び、自らのリサーチプロジェクトを検討する
前半部分で、国際紛争や世界に広がる内戦、平和構築などについて学びます。その後、履修した学生のリサーチプロポーザルを、みんなで議論しながら、作り上げていくことが、この授業の目標です。英語での授業ですので、英語で文献を読んでいきます。
The purpose of this course is 1) to learn case-studies of peacebuilding, mediation, and conflict preventions including ones in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, South Sudan, East Timor, North Korea etc, by using TV documentaries that the instructor produced or academic papers and book that the iinstructors published, and 2) to create research proposals by the students who are taking this course. After the instroctor shared his experience on how he created and advance research proposal for his own Ph.D. dissertation, the students will develop and create their research proposals by having discussion with the instructor and other students.

授業計画
１）ベトナム戦争、北朝鮮核問題、イラク、アフガニスタン、シリア、南スーダンなどの平和構築について、番組を視聴したり、文献を読みながら学びます。
２）履修した学生によるリサーチプロポーザルについて議論（１回目）
３）リサーチプロポーザル及び論文の書き方等について概論
４）リサーチプロポーザルについての議論（２回目）
1) Learning Case Studies of International Conflicts, including ones of the Vietnam War, North Korea Nuclear Crisis, Peacebuilding in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Syria, and East Timor.
2) Lectures on how to create research proposals and thesis
3) Presentation of research proposals by students
4) Discussion of the research proposals by students (second-around)
授業の方法
この授業はセミナー方式です。
This course is the seminar with intensive discussion between instructor and students (and among students.)
成績評価方法
出席、プレゼンテーション、そして最後に提出されるリサーチプロポーザル（Ａ４で２枚程度）によって成績評価を行います。
The eveluation will be based on the participations, presentations and final reseaerch proposals (The research proposal is about 2 to 3 pages).

それ以外の文献は、各授業において随時用意し、学生にコピーしてもらう予定です。可能であれば、PDFでの配布も考えます。（参考書の欄に、参考文献を載せています）
I will prepare references for each topic, and ask students to take copies. I will consider the distribution of the PDF in case it is possible. (You can see the references in the box of "Reference Books".)
