Humanity and the Digital
コンピューターが人間の未来にもたらす最も重要なチャレンジと不確実性は何ですか?そして、デジタルテクノロジはそのチャレンジ や不確実性などをどのように調査し、考えることを可能にするのでしょうか?デジタルテクノロジーは単に非常に強力なツールですか?それともそれ以上になれるでしょうか?

このコースは、最近の急速なデジタル技術の進歩によってもたらされた個人として、特定の国のメンバーとして、そして世界的に、生活と研究の変化に焦点を当てています。このセミナーでは、私たちの生活における人類とデジタルの相互作用の理論、歴史、倫理についてディスカッションします。また、人文科学の研究におけるデジタル方法と実践についても学びます。東京カレッジの2つの研究テーマである2050年の人文科学と、デジタル革命と人文科学の未来を通じて、進歩、デジタル化、人文科学、人文科学という重要なテーマを探っていきましょう。

【学習目標】

▶ 現在世界中の社会学者・哲学者が人類とデジタルのどの問題について議論しているのかを理解すること
▶ デジタル・ヒューマニティーズの用語と方法を基本的なレベルで理解すること
▶ 学際的な視点から人類とデジタルのテーマを議論することができますこと
▶ あなた自身の分野で人類とデジタルの問題について議論することができること

What are the most important challenges and uncertainties that computer technology presents for our human future? And how does digital technology itself allow us to research and think about these problems? Is digital technology merely a very powerful tool? Or could it be more than that?

This course is focusing on the changes in our life and research as individuals, as members of particular nations, and globally, brought by the recent rapid progress in digital technology. In this seminar, we will discuss the theory, history, and ethics of interaction of humanity and the digital in our lives. We will also learn about the methodology and practice of digital in our humanities research. Let's explore topics of progress, digitization, humanity, and humanities through the lens of two research themes of Tokyo College: Humanities in 2050, and the Digital Revolution and Future of Humanity together.

After successfully completing this course, you will
•understand what topics related to humanity and the digital are discussed by social scientist and philosophers today all over the world
•have a basic understanding of terminology and methodology of digital humanities
•be able to humanity and the digital from the interdisciplinary point of view
•be able to discuss issues related to humanity and the digital in your own discipline

履修人数上限25名(登録順で決定) 授業に参加する学生には、次のことが求められます。 ● 毎回授業に出席すること。 ● 授業中の議論と課題に積極的に参加すること。 ● 週毎に設定されたリーディングを行ってから授業に臨むこと。 ● 設定された問いに、短い回答を書くこと。 ● 最後の週に、短い口頭でのグループ・プレゼンテーションを行うこと。 To receive credits for this course, we expect - regular attendance - active participation in in-class discussion and activities - weekly preparation of readings (up to ca. 25 pages) - short written responses to instructor’s prompts (up to ca. one paragraph) - preparation of a group presentation for the final session (ca. 10 min)
