歴史・地域研究演習I

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Human Security- Southeast Asia and Japan in Global Society.
This course examines the issues of sustainable development/SDGs and human security in both theoretical and practical way. Meanwhile the cases will be mainly Southeast Asia and Japan in global society, the course will also deal with the issues in other countries where students come from all over the world. Diverse academic and professional experiences of the students are highly appreciated to promote mutual active learning. As well known, SDGs motto is ‘Leave no one behind’, because the global development goals are not only for LMICs but also developed worlds including Japan, North America and Europe. Students need to bear in mind that SDGs are our own issue under the philosophy of ‘Think globally, act locally’.
Regarding to the theme, the professor has both academic and professional backgrounds including United Nations Research Institute for Social Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), local governments of Japan and NGOs/civil society. He is leading the research on the issue as the vice chair of 'Development Resilience and SDGs', Japan Society for International Development (JASID).

Global Challenges of SDGs and Human Security (2) Refugees/Migrants and 'Leave No One Behind' 【Global Comparative Analysis of SDGs and Human Security】 7.SDGs and Human Security in Southeast Asia. 8.SDGs and Human Security in Japan. 9. Global comparative analysis (1) participatory workshop 10. Global comparative analysis (2) participatory workshop 11. Terminal presentation (1) 12. Terminal presentation (2) 13. Conclusion and wrap up.
授業の方法
It is highly expected and appreciated that students with various academic and professional background from all over the world will actively participate in our class. Collaboration, not competition, among students with diversity can become our fruitful partnership and network not only for this course but also future's career. The course will use active learning and participatory workshop methods, and ICTs for quality education.
成績評価方法
1)Commitment to the class works and assignments*-50% 2)Terminal presentation and term paper **-50% *Assignments: reflection paper, short essay and/or others. **Term paper: long academic essay or relevant work.

履修上の注意
-This course will be conducted by Zoom online basically, respecting for the students from all over the world under COVID-19 pandemic. We may have face to face session, if the situation will allow. -The special sessions can be organized including guest lectures, case studies and field work, if possible. In the case of field work, travel fees and other costs should be covered by students themselves. -The class schedule will be subject to change for the better course. -For 'Leave no one behind', any consultation will be welcome on this seminar/ class. Please feel free to email to the professor.
実務経験と授業科目の関連性
The professor who has practical working experiences in the relevant fields will teach the theme 'SDGs and Human Security'. Practitioners who has expertise will be invited as guest speakers, if in need. .
