This course aims at providing understanding of issues of civil and political rights in Japan and how those issues are discussed at United Nations human rights machiery.

授業の方法
The course will take multiple teaching methods. Primarily two methods are used: lectures and discussion, and exercises (role play)
成績評価方法
Class participation (including role play) 40%, Reaction papers (not requirement in all the classes) 20%, Final report 40%

The instructor used to work for the UN human rights office (the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights), and has first-hand experience in working on these issues. The class aims at bridging the knowledge and practice in human rights.
