授業計画
As you know, classes this semester will be conducted online through the Zoom videoconferencing and ITC-LMS systems. This means that all of us will have to learn new ways of interacting with each other in a virtual classroom. The situation is challenging, but also exciting. Some changes will probably have to be made to the organisation of the course, but I am hoping that the structure will remain basically the same. I will inform you of any significant changes as soon as possible. Pease note that the course now officially begins on April 24th. This means that none of your work before April 24th will be subject to grading. However, I want to spend some time during the scheduled class times on 10th April and 17th April working with you to get used to the technology involved and getting to know you. I'm looking forward to meeting you on April 10th! II have posted the Zoom URL for the first two meetings at the bottom of this syllabus page. Please click on the link at 10:30 on Friday, April 10th. In the meantime, please take care of yourselves.
授業の方法
This is a seminar-style class. We will study written texts and video material from various sources. We will consider the content of these texts and videos and we will describe our reactions. The course will be conducted in English. Normally, students will need to read a short text in preparation for each class. Texts vary between about two pages in length and about twelve pages in length. Students will also be asked to do at least one and possibly two English-language presentations during the course. Presentations are normally about 10 minutes long.
成績評価方法
Grading will be based on preparation for class and class participation, one or two short written papers and one or two presentations. There is no set text and there will be no final exam, although I may ask students to write an in-class or at-home essay towards the end of the course.
