Political Economics
Political Economics
This course covers standard models used in political economy. It is intended for students with an academic interest in political decision-making. It is aimed at those considering a career in research in political science or economics, but other students are welcome to attend.

授業計画
We will cover material from the textbook [Persson & Tabellini 2000] according to the ability and interests of enrolled students, likely finishing between a third and a half of the textbook. Outside of the textbook, we may cover Arrow's Impossibility Theorem and the Hotelling model of spatial competition.
授業の方法
Lecture in English. Class participation is expected, either in English or Japanese.
成績評価方法
Final exam. The exam may be answered in either English or Japanese.
Class participation may be considered in the case of poor performance on the exam.

履修上の注意
No graduate course prerequisites. Calculus and basic concepts from undergraduate game theory (eg. backward induction) are used throughout the course. No experience with political science or political economy is required.
