Academic WritingⅢ

This course aims to develop basic academic writing proficiency through a wide variety of activities. Improvement is intended in the essential areas of grammatical accuracy, syntax, paragraphing, punctuation, and the opening, extension, and conclusion of academic papers. The course then concentrates on the central area of delivering argument in both shorter papers and dissertations. Repeated emphasis will also be placed on the application of new vocabulary and rhetorical forms of particular relevance to scholarly debate. Technical improvement will be achieved through class exercises, several essay assignments, and attendance at all classes, all of which are mandatory.
