経済法演習(外国語科目)

EU competition law
This course offers a case-based introduction to EU competition law. By discussing recent cases, students will become familiar with the key rules of EU competition law (cartels, abuse of dominance, mergers and State aid). EU competition law is the European equivalent of Japan’s Anti-Monopoly Act (独占禁止法).

EU competition law usually makes it into the Japanese mainstream media only when high fines are imposed on companies, but behind those headlines lies a fascinating body of law. The cases discussed in class have contributed to shaping the debate about how competition law should deal with powerful companies in an increasingly global and digital society.
