日本経済Ⅱ（Japanese Economy II)
現代の日本経済を、世界金融危機後のグローバル経済の中に位置づけて考察する。世界金融危機後の先進国経済は回復が続くものの緩慢なものにとどまり、日本の長期停滞・デフレ期と重なる論点も多い。そうした問題意識のもと、本講義では、現代日本経済が抱える課題・トピックスをいくつか取り上げ、先行きを展望する。具体的には、海外の長期停滞と日本の長期デフレ停滞、加速するグローバル化と日本型経済システム、高齢化・人口減少と雇用・労働市場、財政と社会保障、構造改革などを検討する。また高度成長期、安定成長期、バブル経済期など戦後の歴史的な側面もカバーする。英語で講義・討議を行うことで、グローバル人材としての素養を深める。
This lecture attempts to understand characteristics and challenges
of the contemporary Japanese economy from the global/international
perspectives. It covers selected key topics including Japan’s
persistent stagnation and mild deflation for the last two decades, a
comparison with “secular stagnation” in advanced economies,
accelerated globalization and Japanese economic system, declining population, aging and labor/employment conditions, public finance and social security, and structural reform. It also dicusses postwar historical development such as high growth period, stabilized growth period, and the bubble economy.

1. Overseas "secular stagnation" and Japan's "lost decade(s)"
2. Historical developments of the Japanese economy: the periods of high growth, stabilized growth and the bubble economy.
3. Accelerated globalization and corporate Japan
4. Declining population, aging and the labor market
5, Fiscal policy, social security, and structural reforms.

成績評価方法
定期試験による。必要に応じて討議への参加、レポート等も加味する。
Final exam. Group discussions and other assignments may be also considered.
