特別講義 Conflict Prevention and Post-Conflict Politics
This course deals with conflict management in the present world, with particular emphasis on the challenges presented by the fragile, or failed, states in the Middle East and Africa, such as Syria and Libya. The main part of this course will be an international joint-teaching simultaneously taking place in University of California Berkeley, National University of Singapore, Cambridge University, and the University of Tokyo, using teaching materials developed jointly. Other classes will be taught on an individual basis.

授業の方法
The course will be composed of lecture / video presentations, assignments, and discussion. The course require four assignments altogether, one for each module, followed by the final paper. Students are encouraged to make a presentation that is on the website, including text and visual presentation. This will be done in transnational groups, eight students in each groups, two participants from each universities, 12 to 13 groups altogether. The instructor will offer a list of 12 countries, and assign each group to follow that country in their assignments (based on lottery, perhaps). Each instructor will be responsible for a number of countries.
成績評価方法
Grading will be based on course assignments and contributions in class, including cross-national debates.
