This course is organized as a series of discussion sessions with senior officials, management staff and experts in government agencies, international organizations, global business entities, NPOs, and research institutions located in Asia. Students are required to be actively involved from the preparation stage and participate in discussion based on student different backgrounds, life-experiences, specialized knowledge and skills.
Each student is also required to submit a report which should be well organized and articulated with a focus on how to fill the gap between each student's own specialized knowledge/skills and the social demand based on discussion during the field workshop. Also, the report should propose an action plan to achieve one's professional goal in line with the expressed thoughts. Students should minimize a description of their own research while discussing how an interdisciplinary approach could potentially maximize the value of their own research in addressing challenges in the real world.
